WIP Wednesday - Week 16

A little departure from my normal schedule today to show you guys a little something different.  Have you ever wondered about this list in my Ongoing Projects?

A Box Full of Alterations and Random "Fix It" Projects.

Well today is the day that I will show you all what was in that box and get rid of that item in my Ongoing Projects!
Picture
I bought this fabulous purse, carried it for a week and the huge silver grommet fell off. So annoying! So I figured I could fix it....
Picture
I zig-zag stitched the circle opening, to seal the layers together, and thought I would try to work the grommet back on, holding it with glue.
Picture
Then I noticed the other side was coming undone also. So I got aggravated, and threw it in the "maybe I will do something later" pile. Maybe one day I will come back to this project.
Finished Projects:
Quilt Bee Blocks (Click HERE to see them)
Picture
Two shirts that needed new hems. I hated the elastic at the bottom, so I cut if off and sewed in a normal 1" hem. Sorry no finished pictured, but you get the idea!
Ongoing Projects:
Organizing my OUT OF CONTROL Fabric Stash (65% complete)
Bottled Rainbows Ticker Tape Quilt-Along (5 of 16 blocks complete)
Lily's Quilts Quilt-Along  (Using Sherbet Pips)
Making a Light Box & Photographing 150+ Items (Supplies bought, partly assembled)
Sewing (for myself) a few tops/shirts. (2 down, several more to go!)
Quilt Bees
Sock Skeletons
Pillow Case

Other Random Projects: (These are not counted in my weekly stats!)
A Box Full of Alterations and Random "Fix It" Projects. (This will be GONE next week!)
Picture
I wore this shirt 2 times, only to have the elastic dry rot and basically stretch out 3 times the original length. Don't you just love when that happens!
Picture
I yanked out the old elastic and undid a bit of stitching and then just replaced the elastic (on the inside) and stitched it on, and then sealed the open side seams. Good as new!
This Week's Stats:
New Projects - 2
Completed Projects - 1 (This will stay on the list because I have more to make!)
Currently in Progress - 8
Picture
What happens when you give your toddler your favorite necklace? Oh yeah, he manages to break it in 100 pieces.
Picture
Fixed it! Yeah!
Dream Projects On Hold For Now:
Sock Monkey Quilt
Denyse Schmidt Home Dec Fabric Wall Hanging Quilt
Making a bunch of clutches.
Picture
Sock Skeleton project that is now on my "Ongoing Project" list individually and is currently a wip. Instructions for this project can be found on MarthaStewart.com
Picture
Cheater Panel that I will turn into a zipper closed pillow case. This project is also on my "Ongoing Project" list individually now and is a current wip.
Those were the six projects in that box!  Four are complete, and the other two are now on my project list!  It felt good to go through that box and knock some stuff out.  Now I can wear my shirts and necklace! Here's hoping you had a successful week too!

I have a box of things that need fixing, too. Never thought to get it ALL done in a week! Good job.

Great job on your fix-it pile! I bet it feels good to get those marked off the list.

UGH! Mending, I used to have piles like that only with my hubby's jeans. It just got to be too much and I finally said no more. I would have to take the pants apart to repair some of the holes and I said forget it, it isn't worth the aggravation. Sorry about your purse, you would think with the prices people charge for stuff they could make a good product. Anyway your making progress on the mending pile.

That purse that fell apart frustrates me! When something fails that easily it is the worst. Could you use a black (or matching colourful) round patch on either side - then add a new big grommet, to somehow make it look like a design feature? You would have to add a layer of batting and interfacing between the patches to make sure the grommet doesn't come out again.

Good luck with your mend pile. I find it is always the most thankless job.

Isn't it funny how we keep putting those mending tasks off?

I'm the same with 'finishing' my knitting ... if buttons or zips are involved, it'll wait months, maybe even years!

I guess if you can't completely fix the purse, maybe you can at least use the grommets on something else?

You're working your way right through! It's giving me energy to tackle mine! I love my pile of w.i.p.'s :) but my box of random fix-its...ummmm...maybe I need to take one out at a time. Oh, that darn grommet! You'll end up making it an even more fabulous purse, I just know it! :)
