Utterly Amazing and Random Bits

Ellison Lane Quilts
It is absolutely amazing to me that I was nominated as a finalist in the Summer Sewing Contest over at Ellison Lane Quilts.  Thank you so much!  Wow, I am truly blown away.  If you have already voted for me, thank you, I truly appreciate it.  If you have yet to vote, you can HERE, and no, I'm not asking for your vote, there are so many great finalist, you should vote for the one you love, but if you love mine, I'm number 11.  Just saying.

In my original post about the Patchwork Prism, I shared that we were considering hanging it above our fireplace.  Well here it is, in all its glory!  We both love it and boy does it brighten up the room!

I also have a few random bits I would love to share:

I read a great blog post over at The Sometimes Crafter about the various evolutionary stages of a quilter.  I loved it and thought it was so appropriate.  You can read it HERE.

I am in desperate need of a new iron, and am seriously considering this model HERE.  Do you know anything about Singer Irons?  I am also in the serious researching stage of this sewing machine found HERE, to be used exclusively for machine quilting.  Any thoughts or advice?  That's it folks....

Oh I am so thrilled for you & your little quilt certainly deserves the attention!! I just love it - looks great hanging in your home!!!
No iron advice - I choose lemons - even with good brand names! ;-/
Know nothing about the machine either, tho I'm happy with my brother sewing machine... (FUN for you, Marci!)

It looks great, Marci! And you shouldn't be too surprised to be a finalist, it really is an awesome little quilt! I read that post at the Sometimes Crafter, too, and for me, she pretty much nailed it. I really have no advice for your equipment needs, though. I have a Rowenta iron that I bought about 4 years ago and it is still going strong. I've heard good things about Brother machines, but I don't have one, so I'm no help there, either. Hopefully someone else will come through for you!

Oh the Prism looks beautiful hung up!
Sorry I can't help on your ironing and quilting quest; I sew on a Janome and go through about 3 irons a year!

I love the quilt over your fire. I have an oliso iron which I love. The sewing machine looks great but I have no knowledge of other options.

Congratulations on being nominated as finalist in the Summer Sewing Contest! That's so exciting. :) I agree with the others, Patchwork Prism looks great over your fireplace. I'm no help with either the iron or the new sewing machine. My current iron is kind of a dud and I've been looking into getting the Oliso. As for the sewing machine I will admit that I'm am starting to research a new one for myself (will trade in my 15 year old basic Janome - no room for two) as a reward once the sale of my father's house goes through in July. Good luck with your research.
