Bottled Rainbows {Ticker Tape Quilt-Along}

Do you ever blog hop?  Lately it seems like that is all I do!  In the process of blog hopping (or twitter or flickr) I stumbled across this lovely quilt-along and just couldn't resist.  First off it uses scraps, what could be better than that?  Secondly it is a rainbow of colors, how pretty!  This will be the first quilt-along that I have ever participated in, and also the first time that I have tried the quilt-as-you-go process, which I am super excited about trying.  Also the first time using cotton batting (ok, cotton/polyester blend, but at least I am trying it!)  That is a lot of firsts!

I have gathered all my supplies (or at least most of them) and have cut all the center pieces (the large white rectangles in the photo above.)  I have all my colorful strips cut and ready to sew, you can see all 16 lovely colors above.  I enjoyed cutting all the colorful strips, but really hated cutting the large white rectangles.  I guess it was because they were so large and my workspace is so small, the yardage was hanging off the table!  I have slowly been going through my scraps to see what matches each color and hope to wrap that up in the coming weeks.  I'm off to start sewing my blocks together!
