WIP Wednesday - Week 11

4/27/2011

What happens when the weather is rainy and gloomy three days before Wednesday?  That's right, no photos!  Normally, I just wouldn't post at all, but this week I decided to go the silly route!  So you are going to have to use your imagination!

I finished my Style Stitches Checkbook Cover, and I honestly think it turned out great and was so much easier than previous Amy Butler projects, yippee!  I also finished up my pouch for the Pretty Little Pouch Swap, also quite happy with the results!  I will be posting about both of these projects as soon as I can take pictures.

My Advent Calender Quilt is back from the long arm quilter and is now awaiting a binding, which I already have cut and ready to sew on!  Plan on doing that today!  Very excited to get this project wrapped up.

I joined a sew-along this week to make a tunic for myself, you can read more about it HERE.  I need to get working on this, and am quickly falling behind.

That is all I have today folks!  Sorry I don't have any photos, hopefully next time.  Hopefully you had a successful week and were able to accomplish a lot!

Week 10.  Really?  Wow!  I guess I'll keep it short and sweet, I didn't start anything else (technically) or finish anything (technically.)  Why technically?  Well I did complete a guest blog/tutorial.  Was that on my list?  No, but it counts darn it!

I am keeping up with my Lily's Quilts QAL, and that is what I worked on this week!  I put on the borders and now it is ready to quilt using the quilt as you go process that I blogged about yesterday.  Very excited to get that started!  That is it folks!  Wish me a more productive week next time!

P.S.  I ended with two photos of a beautiful iris blooming in my yard and I wanted to show an un-cropped, un-photoshoped picture at the end.  How do you like my shoes?

Happy Wednesday!  I've been steady working, just haven't finished anything lately!  I completed three more Bottled Rainbows blocks, they are really fun, and I love how they are coming along.  I am keeping up with Lily's Quilts Quilt Along, you can see a sneak peak below (last photo) I have all four circles set in their "frames" and now just need to finish adding borders around each one.  I figured out which Quilt As You Go method I am going to use for that quilt, and am excited to get to that stage of the process!

My one new project this week is the Pretty {Little} Pouch Swap on Flickr.  It is my first swap on Flickr, I have been assigned my partner and am super excited to work on this secret swap!  You can read more about it HERE!

WIP Wednesday - Weeks 7 & 8

Did you miss me last week?  I missed you!  Last weeks post just didn't happen, rain and gloomy skies kept me from taking pictures, and honestly, who wants to see a post with no photos?  What did I accomplish in two weeks?  Not as much as I would have hoped.  I completed two blocks in my bottled rainbows quilt along, the first is in a previous post and the second is right here!  I am in love with them so far, and the process is so fun.

I signed up for another quilt along, Lily's Quilts quilt along, I came in a little late, but am currently caught up with the rest of the group, I used my Sherbet Pips bundle for this quilt.  You can see my progress below.  I am so excited to have the inner circles sewn in and finished.  It was way easier than I thought it would be!

I worked on my fabric stash (a little) more, and it is slowly coming around, maybe I will have that project finished by the end of the year!  I certainly hope sooner than that, but at the current rate, I'm not expecting much!

The last two photos are the two different colors of blooming iris in my yard currently.  The yellow is pretty and always photographs better, but I have to admit I love the purple ones the most!  I wish they bloomed year round.

Wednesday again?  Impossible!  I guess not, but time sure does fly!  This week I have no completed projects, oh well.  But, I did work on my Bottled Rainbows Quilt quite a bit.  I pieced together all of the blocks, cut out all the needed batting, and sorted through all my scraps and organized them by color.  That was quite a task.  I worked a little bit on my fabric stash organizing, but am honestly putting that project on hold for a bit, I'm tired of it.  I started making my light box, purchased all the pvc and pvc joints, plus the white fabric for it, maybe I can finish it up this next week and take some awesome photos!  I also picked out the fabrics for April's Style Stitches project (post to come at a later date.)  I shall sign off at this point, I'm off to do some sewing...

WIP Wednesday - Week 5

I wish I could say that I accomplished lots and lots this past week, and though in a way I feel I did, in other ways I don't.  I did finish up March's Amy Butler's Style Stitches Origami Bags (all 6,) post to follow in a few days.  I organized more of my fabric stash, as seen in the photos below, and honestly am sick of working on it!  I may take a break for a while, and am almost out of comic book backing boards, meaning I have used 200 already, which makes me feel a little bit ill.  I have all my fabric for the Bottled Rainbows Ticker Tape Quilt-Along, and am currently working on that project (post to come in a few days also!) So much suspense!

Do you ever have that moment when the stars align and everything comes into place, and you realize that sometimes you just have to delegate that task that isn't getting done, or you just plain don't like doing?  Well it happened to me this past week and now that I have taken the plunge and decided to do it, I feel so much better, a burden has been lifted!  What am I talking about?  My Advent Calender Quilt.  It has been sitting on my work desk since November, basted together and just staring at me every day.  Now that the holidays have past, I don't have the motivation to work on it, honestly I don't mind quilting, but with a three year old constantly jumping all over me, lately I haven't enjoyed that task as much as I used to.  I don't think anyone likes being repeatedly poked with pins and needles!  So when things fell into place and I found someone to machine quilt it for me, I bit the bullet, packaged that baby up and shipped it off for someone else to work on! Whew! I am so glad to have that quilt off of my work station!  In a month or two when it has returned home, all I will have to do is sew on the binding.  Letting go and realizing that I can't be Super Woman all of the time (just most of the time) has been really freeing and I would highly recommend it!

Wow, it has been a month since i started participating in Wip Wednesday, how time flies!  I wish I could say that this past week was really productive, but honestly it wasn't.  Unexpected internet problems, a funeral, and traveling out of town kept me from meeting all my goals, but that is life.  I did finish two of the six Amy Butler Origami Bags.  I also worked on the continuing organization of my fabric stash.  I did put a small dent in it, and created quite a few "mini" bolts, but I still have quite a bit to go through!

I did have one super exciting thing happen this past week....I finally got my hands on a fat quarter bundle of Sherbet Pips by Aneela Hoey!  I have been anxiously awaiting this fabric for quite some time, and was thrilled when I snagged a bundle from the Fat Quarter Shop.  Now I just need to figure out what to make with it!

I had quite the productive week!  I finished up the nine Louise Pleated Wristlets that I had been working on, plus 10 wrist straps.  Glad to have those finished up, now let's see how long it takes me to get them listed in my shop!  I started a new project this week, I slowly began to organize my out of control fabric stash.  I am creating "mini" bolts that I am sure many of you have seen before, and am loving it!  The problem is, I thought I was making pretty good progress, and then I noticed that my unfolded pile didn't seem to be getting any smaller.  Oh well, I'm doing a little each day so I don't get burnt out on it.  I have been steadily working on my Amy Butler Origami Bags and hope to have them finished by next week!

This week I was able to finish a few projects (thank goodness) and it feels good to have something accomplished!  I finished my Style Stitches Reversible Shopper, pictures will come later this week in another posting.  I made two super soft scarves, and I just love the velveteen, it has a great weight and texture.  I also finished up a pair of pajama pants for myself that turned out HUGE!  Not just a little huge, but 2X-3X huge, and I had to take them in quite a lot, and they are still huge, oh well, they are pajamas!  When I put them on, they kinda look like a nice billowy skirt, I had planned to make another pair, but think I will try a different pattern next time.  I think I am most amazed that I didn't start a new project this week!  Let's see how long that lasts!

WIP Wednesday - Week One

What is a WIP you ask?  A work in progress!  I am stating this first, because honest to God I only found out what this meant about a month ago!  I kept seeing WIP everywhere and thought, "What in the world does that stand for!" and then I found out and felt dumb, I honestly can not keep up with the abbreviation/texting stuff at all.  Oh well, I guess that is what happens when you get older, and you know at my ripe old age of 30, things are really going downhill.  HaHa!  Back to my point....This is my first WIP Wednesday, and basically I am going to share with you, all of the projects that I have going on right now, and hopefully each week I can cross something off the list (or maybe even a few things!)  Since this is my first week participating, I will be listing everything I have sitting around that I need to work on and finish!  This list is kinda long!

Ongoing Projects:
Amy Butler's Style Stitches Reversible Everyday Shopper Bag (90% finished)
Amy Butler's Style Stitches Origami Bag Set - 6 Pouches (Cut out and partially sewn)
