![]() Ever wonder "Who exactly is Marci...is she real?" Well here I am, in all my fuzzy photo glory! When I started this blog back in February, I went through a years worth of photos and couldn't find a single decent photo of myself (the 5 that existed were really bad,) so last night after our baths my husband snapped this photo of me, our little boy and his puppy (or as he pronounces it peepe!) That explains the lack of clothes (I do have on shorts,) bare faces (yep, no make-up) and scraggly hair. You know how it goes though, you get a good picture taken, and of course it turns out slightly blurry...oh well, you win some, you lose some! The picture below is our ole' bear showing off his brand new (overpriced) pajamas that feature our Alma Mater (The University of Louisiana, Ragin' Cajuns!) He sure does like them, and we thought he looked pretty spiffy also!

The inconvenient truth is that 11 men are presumably dead, 3 seriously injured, tons of oil is spilling into the Gulf of Mexico right off of the Louisiana coast and it took the media 9 days to actually cover this disaster? As soon as this deep water well sunk to the bottom of the ocean, my first comment was...what are they doing to contain the spill.....anyone.....anyone.....seriously.....anyone. Now days later....oh gosh the oil is creeping all over the coastline, really what did they think would happen? I am so disgusted I could spit. Don't get me wrong, I am not an environmental activist by any means, just a hippie at heart, and maybe I watched Avatar one to many times lately, but what is it going to take to get America to WAKE UP. Exxon Valdez happened 21 YEARS AGO and our oil cleaning up and containment methods don't seem to have improved, pathetic...do you hear me PATHETIC! It also doesn't help that this is pretty much in my backyard, scary that our local news stations are regularly broadcasting phone numbers to report oil covered animals, contaminated water supplies, and unsafe air conditions, lovely, just lovely. I don't have the answers, I'm sorry, but I know that something needs to change. Everyone wants to talk about their lovely carbon footprints...well this footprint is kicking our ass. Let us all say a prayer that they have this cleaned up before hurricane season, or the gulf states can expect a fine coating of oil that will reach much further than just the coastline. A prayer goes out to those families grieving over the loss of their loved ones, and a prayer goes out to all of the families who will be losing their livelihoods. This should be a cry to make some real change America! The picture above is what I mentally see when I think about the Exxon Valdez, I was nine years old when that disaster happened and it sickens me that my son will grow up with a similar image in his brain, a.k.a. the photo below.
Thought I would share a few photos taken at my mother's house in the past few weeks. She certainly has a beautiful array of flowers! My personal favorite is the Iris, what is yours? Happy Spring!
![]() Wait a second...didn't we do this last week...that's right baby we did, it was so delicious last week, that my husband and I indulged again! This past Saturday was so beautiful we decided to redo our meal from the previous weekend, and as you can tell it turned out equally delicious! Now...for the ribs, on Sunday, we felt more adventurous and went all out and spent the 3-4 hours doing these bad boys, and yes, they tasted as delicious as they look! They are well worth the work...but also a once a year type of thing. We did have a few mishaps, like running out of propane for our grill midway, but we adapted and just moved it inside to the oven! The best part is that my son actually did eat some of the ribs! Yippie! Oh and in case you were wondering, yes, I am obsessed with taking pictures of my food! Well you know you are....jealous that is. Seriously, in case you were wondering, this is what it looks like...the COMPLETE Little House on the Prairie series on 60 discs! This item has been for sale for a while, but I could never bring myself to shell out the major bucks, but with a great Amazon sale and $50 worth of gift certificates, I went ahead and treated myself! Yes, it is a binder full of DVD's! I am so excited to start watching this beloved series that I grew up watching...when TV was simpler, cleaner and before the days of reality TV. Yes, I know that this will take me FOREVER to watch, but hopefully my whole family will enjoy it and we can spend some quality wholesome family time in front of the TV...haha! I know this makes me dorky and all, but I really did love me some Little House...loved the books also! So, what was your favorite TV show growing up?
